HAKONE Trip

Hakone is a popular spot to visit while visiting Japan.  It is near Mt. Fuji and surrounded by beautiful sights, and many activities to enjoy.  We took a two day trip on the train and had a look for ourselves.  Unfortunately, the weather was a bit wet and overcast, so that did not help to highlight the colors and the views of Mt. Fuji and beyond.  We still had a wonderful time as a family, visiting a really great & fun Onsen,
called Yussin.  You are able to enjoy hot springs that are accented with hot coffee, red wine, and beer to name a few.  They have attendants that come by every so often and take the experience to a new level by dumping the contents over your head.  We were fortunate to have the coffee and red wine poured on us.
I think we even turned pink (like Pinkalicious!- one of Jillian's favorite books!)  We took a ride on a sky car over the mountains and had lunch in a great restaurant overlooking the views, and crossed the water on a pirate ship.  We wandered all around the town looking at shops, pottery studios, and glass blowing.  There were gorgeous parks along the way too!

We stayed at an historic hotel in the area called the Fujia.  It has western style and Japanese style rooms.  It is a gorgeous building, and they charge you per night the number of years the hotel has been open~ this year 130 Yen per room!
