We were so excited to still be able to go Trick-or-Treating in Tokyo. We had costumes that we brought along with us from home.... but only for 3 this year - not 5 (we might be rethinking that for next year!).
In our neck of the woods, it is known for a high concentration of "foreigners", and because of this Halloween has definitely picked up speed over the years. Many homes and apartment buildings GO ALL OUT for the occassion. They decorate to the hilt, with music, fog & spookey surprises. Some of the houses will even have large tables set up with all types of goodies for the grabbing. The kids are welcome to take as much as they like. We walked through the streets of Minami-Azabu, as well as Moto-Azabu, which we were told was where all of the excitement was - and it was true. The kids had a great time.
Although we still missed the tradition of Halloween parties at school, at Jeff's work, and the great night we spend with our neighbors and Grandparents.... maybe we started a new tradition, while we are here, with the neighbors in our building. The Susser Family was so kind to invite us all up for dinner and yummies Halloween Night.
This picture that I included above is a home that is used strictly for Japanese Corporate Entertainment. No one lives in the home, but you will see it light up for parties, and see all of the goods arrive.... cocktails, food, etc. And we got to see it in action Halloween Night.
