Thanksgiving

As Thanksgiving was approaching, we were uncertain how to best celebrate that beloved holiday.
When at home we so look forward to that simple holiday of being with family and focusing on our blessings.
With the kids being at an International School, it was not a holiday that would be acknowledged with a day off of school.  Jeff and I went round and round trying to come up with a plan.  Do we cook, get it catered, try to get friends together, etc. etc.???  Many of our friends that have children that attend the American School would be having that as a holiday like we would back home, so they were taking advantage of that time and going to Guam, like our close friends The Susser Family....
So, after much consideration, we decided to take the kids out of school and enjoy the day as a family.

We went to Mt. Tako, and it was a perfect fall day.  We hiked up much of the mountain, taking in all the views and amazing colors.  When you reach a certain level on the mountain there are some attractions, such as traditional Japanese snacks, and a Monkey exhibit.  We them enjoyed them all!

We were then able to take a cable car down the mountain for an easy and fun way down.  (Maybe we did that backwards... what do you think?  -ha :)  It turned out to be such a fun way to celebrate together and a day we will always remember.  And the best part was we still got turkey.  On the way home we dined at good ol' American Hard Rock Cafe that was offering the traditional Thanksgiving feast that night ~YUM!  But we still had an itch to scratch, so that weekend we made our first Pumpkin Pie.  (Thank You Rebecca for having all the special ingredients!!)
